Italy Austria and Germany
Italy’s road signs hadn’t improved unfortunately. So it was time
to head up for the northern and eastern points of the trip. Along the east coast,
with a quick diversion to the west and Pompei, then back to the east and up
to San Remo, then on to Milan.
North out of Milan, to Austria and the Alps again, including a 2700m climb and
no petrol stations. Do you save fuel if you sit in forth gear rolling down hills
in forth gear? I don’t know, but I did make it to a petrol station.
Austria became Germany, and a made thrash (60mph some of the time!) up to Hamburg,
where I was hoping for a new exhaust and a proper service. Unfortunately when
I got there it was going to over a week before the van could be sorted. Ah well
Denmark here I come.
