Pyrenees to Portugal

Back

The Pyrenees were entertaining to say the least, 2nd or 3rd gear for a day or two, rarely getting over 35mph, and giving that steering a major workout on those hairpins. Great fun, and I didn't even fry the brakes! Although I did have to pull over every so often, to let faster traffic past. Still the views were stunning.

After playing in the mountains, it was off through Spain, again avoiding the toll roads. So it was through some of the smaller towns Huesca, Tarazona then round Valladolid to Zamora and onto Portugal. The route was very flat, and windy, with the poor old camper being pushed all over the place.

Plane in Spain

Also during this stretch across Spain's, my first two casualties, both sparrows, one into the bumper, and the other into the roof and denting it. Maybe, being one of the slower vehicles on the road, they thought they could race me, and the wind got the better of them. Either that, or they thought I was a mobile bush, and they could hitch a ride.

Back to the van again, nothing too dramatic, a little problem with the split charging system, (loose wire) meant the second battery was flat resulting in a warm fridge. Otherwise fine.
