Spain again, and the most Southerly Point

Back

From Sevilla it was straight forward to get down to Tarifa (most southerly point and half way there!). After a quick stop it was meant to be a case of follow the coast, and at some point head north to Andora. First stop however was Gibraltar (the other one, not near Skegness), well I had to stock up at Sans-ways (which ever it was)! Also the petrol was cheaper here than Spain.

Gibralta

Gibraltar is an interesting place, it takes 20 mins to get through customs, you then drive across the runway and onto the Rock. The road signs and signals are a cross between English and Spanish, and the moped riders are the worse the in London. Yes I did do the tourist thing of go to caves and see the apes etc. It was also another 20mins waiting to get through customs to get out again, still while it's British, use pound notes, has congested roads and have proper chocolate, it's worth going to! From there it was follow the coast, from Marbella to Valencia. It was tricky to see where some of the towns finished and others started, but if you look, you can still find quiet beaches with handy parking!

Spanish coast

From Valencia on up along the coast to Vinaros, then inland to Andora, well that was the plan. Inland yes, Andora no, following a puncture coming into Morella (rear, nothing to do with that nail in the front on), I noticed I wasn't getting any charge from the dynamo (an old alternator to some of you!). No problem, must have shaken a wire loose or something. Well no loose wires, and nothing coming out of the dynamo at all. Ok well maybe get a garage to have a quick look, maybe I'm missing something, or they could do a little bodge or something. So on that optimism I set off looking for a garage, well there are plenty, and they are usefully signed, with symbols as to what they specialize in, tyres, servicing or electrics. However, at each one I stopped at, they didn't want even have a look (unlike when I too a Harley round some of Australia) and kept sending me on to bigger towns, so it was that I carried on to Alcaniz, Zaragoza and over to Barcelona. Until finally sod this, find a campsite, and order up a replacement dynamo and regulator from VW Heritage (they did promise before I left that they would ship anywhere).

I hadn't stayed on a campsite for many years, and I can't say I remembered them having restaurants, bars and pools, but I guess that's progress.
