The Start
The sun shone, the bike had been sold, the summer was looking boring. I know, lets quit my job, buy a 1967 Volkswagen split screen camper, and go round Europe for three months or so. Brilliant idea!
Well that's how it started, it's now the day before I leave, after lots of preparation (one service, two days tinkering, and three heavy drinking sessions later), I'm just about to depart. Only one more thing to do, and that's decide where I'm going, still it shouldn't be too difficult, as it's between Plymouth, Portsmouth, Dover or Newcastle. I guess I'll look at the weather and then make up my mind...
Right time for decisions, where to go. Well how about the four corners of mainland Europe? You know, the most northerly, easterly southerly and westerly? That seems like a good idea, err any one know where they are?
I've looked at a map, and I think I've worked it out. It looks like Norway, Finland, Spain and Portugal contain these points, and the weather is... Ok, lets go west first, that looks much warmer. Though I'm still not convinced that Finland is the most easterly, seeing as I'm not actually sure which countries are in Europe, time to look at the map again.
Ok, I can say categorically which countries are in Europe now, well according to my Michelin Tourist and Motoring Atlas of Europe, or something. Anyway, just in case Finland isn't the most Easterly, I might pop over to Greece just to be sure, I'm sure navigation will be interesting!
Now let me think, I'm currently up with some friends in South Reston, I think I need to go South to start with, via Skegness of course. Oh Gibraltar, that was quick!
